The newly appointed Abia state commissioner for Science and Technology, Engineer David Kalu from Isiugwu Ohafia of the state has promised to serve and to perform his duties to the highest standards.
Kalu, who returned from his London base to take up the appointment is the first son of the late Union Bank chair and accountant guru, Dr Kalu Uke Kalu who died last year. He was buried last December.
David Kalu, in his late fifties studied engineering at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka before departing for London.
Responding to a barrage of felicitations from his town folks, friends and well wishers, Kalu said, " Isiugwu Kaani, I want to say how grateful I am for the overwhelming support I have received both on this platform and by numerous phone calls.
"I hope that I can serve Abia State and perform my duties to the highest standards and make Isiugwu proud."
.Gov. Alex Otti two days ago assigned portfolios to his newly appointed Commissioners, and effected minor cabinet reshuffle.
