On the debasement of Nigerians

By Uduma Kalu
When I see the humiliation, debasement and brazen murdering of the citizens of the Giant of Africa and the wailings and rollings and curses from the people, signifying helplessness and appeal to their government for help, I cringe with pity. Because they don't know that no help is coming. Tinubu is lame duck, a bloody civilian, a bat worse than Batists and bandits.
I watch these brutalities and weepings of the children of the Giant, and I wonder, how art the mighty fallen? A whole Nigeria, the giant that was the beacon of the black race, black world's most populous, brought down to its knees by tag tag illiterate gangs, I shake my head in pity. Why ? It's greed. Ethnicity. Conquistador mentality, corruption, hatred of the Igbo and the Eastern region.
Sometime ago, I did a poem, perhaps about this: your land is taken, and there's nothing you gonna do about it. I was echoing MJ's Thriller. But here we are. For whatever it is, let the carnage stop. The country can collapse but let the people breathe.
