10 years on, Smithsonian jams African music

Em Aw
We're doing it again! Almost 10 years to the date, we are reprising the community live music session at the Smithsonian Museum of African Art. Save the date: September 28th.

The September 28 concert will be a highlight of NMAfA’s Community Day event, running from 7 to 10 pm. This unique performance will bring together a musical collective, with members of the community forming a "house band" that will feature talented musicians and vocalists from our area representing Africa and its diaspora.

The concert will pay homage to the rich legacy of African musical genres and artists, while also delighting the audience with performances that step beyond the artists' usual cultural styles.
Expect an eclectic mix of classic and contemporary tunes, brought to life by renowned DC-area artists.
