Johnny Haastrup, also known as Prince Joni Ademola Haastrup, was a "baad man", a pioneering force in Afro-Funk whose music embodied the pulse of Nigeria. Born in Sierra Leone, the Yoruba Prince was the most sought after musician in his day. He was a member of groups like Monomono, The Hykkers, and Ginger Baker's Air Force, to mention a few. He was a big part of bringing funk music to life in Nigeria with his electrifying fusion of African roots and global influences, especially in the way he played the keyboard. His spirit lives on in the beats and melodies he so passionately crafted. Sincere condolences to his loved ones, friends and fans around the world. Thank you, Johnny!
