According to Nri oral history, Igodomigodo was an Igbo Kingdom until Ile Ibinu (so called Bini) people took over the land during succession struggle which resulted in war between Idu (Igbos) and Oba (Ile Ibinu) - agha Idu na Oba. It was during this war that Oluminya came with Ile Ife warriors. Igbos lost the war and Ezechima clans lost their ancestral homeland in Igodomigodo. This resulted to Bini-Agbo war which lasted more than hundred years. It was during this war that Eze Nri mobilised all Igbo warriors from across Igboland including Aro warriors to fight off Bini invaders. Binis are mixed breeds between Igbos of Igodomigodo and Ile Ife immigrants. Binis population grew in Igodomigodo and with help of Ile Ife warriors they took over power. Nri priests used to wear Igodomigodo styled bronze to denote the power of Nri King over Igodomigodo. This is Eze Nri na Oraeri wearing it. This picture was taken in 1960.
