What's happening to Nigerian banks now?

[10/9, 10:27 PM] +234 805 395 0300: GTBank announces temporary service disruption as it migrates to new banking application on October 11 https://nairametrics.com/2024/10/09/gtbank-announces-temporary-service-disruption-as-it-migrates-to-new-banking-application-on-october-11/
[10/9, 10:27 PM] +234 805 395 0300: Most banks are migrating this period.
[10/10, 10:30 AM] +234 803 868 2721: Almost all the banks have shut their online apps. Something is going on that they are trying to prevent or would have hit one of them
[10/10, 10:34 AM] +234 805 403 3230: Last night. At around 9pm Mainone MDXi Datacentre in Ogombo went down. The entire banks on their network went down, all the clients in Nigeria using their subsea cable as well. This as reported by them was a power issue. This is a major outage
[10/10, 10:34 AM] +234 805 403 3230: In case your banking apps are not working, know that more than 50% of the banks in Nigeria is affected by this
[10/10, 11:24 AM] +234 805 634 7522: It's happening to me now. Can't transfer stanbic ibtc. Went to their branch see cue
[10/10, 11:41 AM] +234 803 724 0780: Dear Esteemed Client,
We apologise for the downtime being experienced across our channels and Branches.
We are currently working to resolve the downtime, and we will be back up as soon as the challenge is resolved. Please note that you will be notified as soon as our system is up and running. For further details, please contact us via email at customercarenigeria@stanbicibtc.com
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
[10/10, 12:33 PM] +234 805 395 0300: Most of them are changing their system.

AI has advanced things and if you don't level up, you will have your system attacked regularly and also performance of the system may be slowed down also consider that you may be limited to possibilities as a bank.

There may be other reasons but for me, these are good enough reasons.
[10/10, 12:34 PM] +234 805 395 0300: Even Mainone needs to update.
[10/10, 1:00 PM] +234 803 343 2055: But leveling up to AI without adequate security proof exposes you to even greater risk of attack. Isn't that a bit of what they may be experiencing?

Nigeria leapfrogs technology adaptation instead of progressing it in phases.
[10/10, 1:03 PM] +234 803 329 4858: First Bank used only one day to upgrade their system. These other banks know what their challenges are. It is now 11 days and one cannot transact with Zenith Mobile app
[10/10, 1:05 PM] +234 805 395 0300: First Bank did an upgrade.

These others are changing their system entirely
[10/10, 1:17 PM] +234 806 340 9127: Fidelity Bank was down on Tuesday and Wednesday. It's working fine today.
[10/10, 1:21 PM] +234 803 329 4858: So, why are almost all the banks upgrading their systems at the same time?
[10/10, 1:25 PM] +234 806 340 9127: Something sinister is happening obviously, and they won't tell the public what exactly is happening.

Most of them use Finnacle. And even GTB states it clearly in their email (I'm wondering why they will even give out such an information, whether true or false, in an email message). Methinks it's either a security problem, or there's a patch all of them must upgrade to.
[10/10, 1:26 PM] +234 803 329 4858: I think so too. Something does not just jell properly
[10/10, 1:51 PM] +234 803 868 2721: I did an in bank transaction with gtb today, but couldn't in Polaris and Stanbic cos they said their network was down
[10/10, 4:05 PM] +234 803 329 4858: Zenith Bank mobile app is now up. Received a message on the restoration of services from the bank, I tried a mobile transfer and it was successful. Same with their POS
[10/10, 7:17 PM] +234 805 123 8910: They have slammed ridiculous daily transaction limits on us oh Sir. Take a closer look. Nsogbu di.
