You're being diplomatic, sir. But I am afraid, those playing the ethnic card will not listen to you. Because it's part, I am told, of the Batists' and Lagos government policy to whip up hate against the Igbo. So, everything from an Igbo is pilloried and treated as from an enemy. A Yoruba supporting Igbo is derided. There's no distinction in their opinion between policy and politics, ethnicity and nationality. Just one creed - anti Igbo. It's their cash out. If they stop bashing Igbo, they will not get paid.
So, I am sorry, the Bats, the Batists and their bandits of hate led by Onanuga, FFK, Reno will not stop. Why? The leaders of this Igbo hate are rewarded.
I'm reading the autobiography of the late Oba of Benin, Erediuwa and every page drips with hot hate against the Igbo in the build up to the war. He didn't hide his alignment with Gowon and Britain. Look at where these two led us today. Igbo are a suspect in Nigeria, hence the weapon of hate against them in Nigeria. Gowon's book confirms the hate against the Igbo in Nigeria still. Ironically, the world regard Gowon among one of the mass murderers of the world, in the likes of Hitler, Mao, Mussolini etc. Awo mastermind the starvation policy. Gowon took the blame. And has become a global enemy of mankind. One day, all of such players will be judged. Stalin was judged long after he left power. The UN just listed the trans Atlantic slave trade as the worst crime against humanity. Even when the world powers that perpetrated the act tried to stop it.
Meanwhile, the anti Igbo hate now in Lagos wasn't the case before the war. It was Awo's joining Gowon against the East that brought up the hate to kill the Igbo. Bats, the Batists and their bandits of hate have frenzied it up from the old time Igbo phobia.
So every criticism against BAT is ethnicized in response, such laziness and emptiness. Tell me, how do you build a nation like that - with this frenzied mob and morbid reasoning mass. Noise takes over. Name calling, a sign of intellectual myopia takes over. The stench of hate takes over. The nation is doomed. And with every indices pointing low, the haters will also have themselves to hate someday very soon.
